Registered Osteopath BOsT (Hons), Licensed MLD/Perrin Practitioner

Khush Mandaviya

I am a highly experienced osteopath with over 11 years in clinical practice, working with patients across the lifespan—from young children and adolescents to adults and athletes. My therapeutic approach is deeply holistic and integrative: rather than merely suppressing symptoms. I aim to uncover and address the underlying causes of dysfunction, with a particular focus on trauma, lymphatic stagnation, and mitochondrial health.

Over the years, I have developed special expertise in treating complex, chronic conditions such as Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/ Chronic fatigue syndrome (ME/CFS), fibromyalgia, and Long Covid. I have completed training in Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Glymphatic drainage (neuro drainage) and I am currently advancing further in the Perrin Technique® under the supervision of Dr. Raymond Perrin, the neuroscientist who originally developed the method.

One of the cutting‑edge modalities I integrate into my work is red and near‑infrared light therapy (also known as photobiomodulation). This modality supports mitochondrial health, stimulates cellular metabolism, and modulates inflammation. A growing body of scientific literature supports the mitochondrial mechanisms of red/NIR light: for example, Hamblin (2018) describes how red/near‑infrared photons act on mitochondrial cytochrome c oxidase to enhance electron transport, raise mitochondrial membrane potential, and induce beneficial redox signaling. PubMed+1 Another relevant study showed that low-level laser (red + NIR) applied to muscle cells increased mitochondrial membrane potential and ATP production, with a peak response several hours post‑application. PubMed In adipose tissue, photobiomodulation has been shown to stimulate mitochondrial markers and biogenesis in clinical settings. PubMed+1

By combining light-based mitochondrial support with manual and lymphatic techniques, I aim to optimise the internal environment, enhance cellular resilience, and promote systemic healing.

🧠 The Perrin Theory: Toxins, Viruses & Glymphatic Dysfunction

According to the Perrin Theory, viral infections such as Epstein-Barr virus (EBV), influenza, or SARS-CoV-2 (Covid-19) can trigger a toxic overload within the central nervous system (CNS). In susceptible individuals, this overload can overwhelm the body’s detoxification systems — particularly the lymphatic and glymphatic pathways — which are responsible for draining waste products and inflammatory toxins from the brain and spinal cord.

When these systems become stagnant or dysfunctional, toxins accumulate in the CNS, resulting in neuroinflammation, mitochondrial impairment, and autonomic nervous system imbalance. This dysfunction manifests clinically as profound fatigue, cognitive dysfunction (“brain fog”), widespread pain, and post-exertional symptom exacerbation — hallmark features of ME/CFS and related syndromes.

The Perrin Technique combines gentle manual osteopathic methods to stimulate lymphatic flow, improve spinal mechanics, and enhance the drainage of toxins from the CNS to peripheral clearance pathways. A diagnostic accuracy study by Hives et al. (University of Manchester, 2017) found that physical signs used in the Perrin Technique could distinguish ME/CFS patients from healthy individuals with a high degree of accuracy.

“The build-up of toxins — caused by a combination of viral insultautonomic dysfunction, and poor lymphatic drainage — lies at the heart of the Perrin model for ME/CFS.”

– Dr. Raymond Perrin, The Perrin Technique: How to Beat Chronic Fatigue Syndrome/ME

In the peer-reviewed article “EPA and the Perrin Technique: a combined approach to treating myalgic encephalomyelitis” (Perrin, 2010), the hypothesis is discussed that impaired drainage of neurotoxins from the central nervous system contributes to symptomatology, and that a combination of manual osteopathic lymphatic methods with supplementation (like EPA) might support recovery. BioMed Central+1

🌿 Whole-Body, Trauma-Informed Care

I believe that trauma and toxins—whether physical, emotional, viral or environmental—can be held in the tissues, and that the body “remembers” more than we often acknowledge. This can result in altering the body’s ability to regulate inflammation, recover from illness, and maintain homeostasis.  My approach integrates this understanding into each treatment, offering a supportive space for the body to unwind, recalibrate, and restore function.

My patients include both active individuals recovering from injury and those who are housebound or bedbound due to chronic illness. My tailored, phased, and compassionate treatment plans have helped many reclaim a better quality of life — even after years of debilitating fatigue, dysautonomia or post-viral conditions.
